The Haramain High-Speed Rail (HHR) ranks among the ten fastest trains in the world, operating on an electrified line that reaches speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour. This state-of-the-art railway seamlessly connects the holy cities of Makkah and Medina, with key stops in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). 

Spanning 1,250 kilometers, this passenger rail line originates in Riyadh and stretches northwest toward Al Haditha, near the Jordanian border. Along its route, it connects key cities including Majmaah, Qassim, Hail, Jouf, and Qurayyat.

SAR East (Saudi Arabian Rail East) operates a railway network spanning approximately 1,775 kilometers, extending from King Abdulaziz Port and the city of Dammam on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast to the capital, Riyadh. Along its route, the line passes through key cities including Abqaiq, Hofuf, Haradh, Al-Tawdhihiyah, and Al-Kharj. 

Complementing the main corridor, a series of auxiliary lines branch off to connect industrial zones, agricultural regions, military sites, and residential areas with major export ports—supporting both economic development and strategic mobility.

The North Railway, formerly known as the North-South Railway (NSR), extends over 2,750 kilometers, making it the longest railway network in the world equipped with the European Train Control System Level 2 (ETCS-L2). While portions of the line remain under construction, this advanced signaling and telecommunications system sets a new benchmark in railway operations — enhancing reliability and significantly elevating safety and security for passengers, personnel, and freight alike.
